Detroit houses
A lot of Detroit's houses went up in the first half of the 1900s: brick bungalows, two-story brick homes and wood-frame houses on narrow city lots. Many still have their original plaster walls and ceilings.
Plaster over wood lath is harder and more brittle than drywall, and it tends to crack along the lath. A patch has to bond to an old surface, so say in the quote request whether your walls are plaster or drywall if you know.
